The GenAI Spend Traps Assessment

6 traps. 5 minutes. Find out where your AI budget is leaking.

Why Most Organisations Overspend on GenAI

Most organisations are losing 20–40% of their AI investment to invisible inefficiencies. We've identified the six most common patterns.

1. Premium Models as Default

Teams default to premium models for every task, even when a cheaper model would produce identical results. The difference can be 10× on your API bill.

2. GenAI for Deterministic Tasks

Using LLMs for lookups, routing, or classification that code or traditional ML would handle faster, cheaper, and more consistently.

3. Pilot Overload

Dozens of GenAI experiments running without shared platform or clear kill/scale criteria. Most spend becomes rebuild cost when pilots try to reach production.

4. Output Quality Driving Rework

AI outputs need heavy human editing, eroding the productivity gains you expected. You pay twice: the model cost plus expensive people time.

5. Duplicate Copilots & Shelfware

Overlapping AI subscriptions across departments with no single view of what's being spent. Forgotten renewals and unused licences pile up.

6. Hidden Ops Drains

Costs spike when tokens balloon, agents loop, retries cascade, or GPU infra sits idle. Without observability you can't explain the bill.

This assessment checks all six patterns against your organisation, so you'll know exactly where the leaks are and what to do about them.

How it works

We start with three calibration questions about your organisation, then walk through each of the six spend traps. For each trap, a screening question determines whether it applies to you. If it does, 2–4 follow-up questions help us estimate the savings opportunity.

At the end you'll get a breakdown of estimated savings by trap, risk scores, and a prioritised action plan. The whole thing takes about five minutes.
